About Earth Week Kick Off

The Wicker Park Advisory Council (WPAC) is partnering with the Wicker Park Bucktown Chamber of Commerce, SSA #33, and Garbage Gals to Kick Off Earth Week for the Chicago Park District.

We will be doing Earth Day Clean Ups at Wicker Park and surrounding parks and playgrounds from 9 am to 11:30am, followed by a catered picnic and Green Fest with vendors and activities celebrating the planet that cares for us and how we can care for it.

Gloves and other supplies will be provided. Come ready to have a blast working with your neighbors to get our parks and playgrounds ready for another amazing Chicago Summer.

What will volunteers do?

We will be doing a spring cleaning and refreshing of the park. Duties include, picking up trash in and around the local parks and playgrounds, removing graffiti, putting a fresh coat of paint on tables and benches, and spreading and raking mulch. Breakfast, Lunch, and snacks will be provided. Register to Volunteer.

What will volunteers need to bring or wear?

Comfy clothing and shoes that you don't mind getting dirty. Dress for the forecast!

What should volunteers know about the location?

Meet in the FieldHouse to grab breakfast and get directions to your assigned work project. If you are interested in adopting a nearby park or playground to clean, email john.shirk@wickerpark.org.
