Construction & Contractors
HandyBandi is a handyman company working across Chicago, and Wicker Park and Bucktown are two of the neighborhoods we know best by building type. Most of the housing here went up between the 1880s and the 1920s: worker cottages, two-flats and three-flats, many of them since converted into condos. That stock behaves in a particular way. Walls are plaster over lath rather than drywall, so a TV bracket or a closet rod needs the right anchor instead of a plastic plug. Doors and windows have settled out of square and bind in the frame. Original trim is worth repairing rather than replacing.
Most of what we do is the list that has been waiting: a sticking door, a shelf, a dripping faucet, a tub that needs fresh caulk, patched drywall after a leak, a bathroom fan that stopped working. One crew covers carpentry, drywall and painting, minor plumbing and appliance installation, so four or five jobs usually close in a single visit rather than four separate appointments.
Every visit starts with a flat-rate quote, and that number is the invoice. Our technicians are background-checked, and HandyBandi is bonded and insured, which most condo associations require before a contractor can work in the building.
We serve all of Chicago, plus Evanston, Skokie and Oak Park, seven days a week.
