
WPBCC - SSA#33 Rat Birth Control Distribution Contractor
The Wicker Park Bucktown Chamber of Commerce (WPBCC) is the business association for the Chicago communities of Wicker Park and Bucktown. We work to increase the economic development of our members and encourage profitable relationships within the community. We work to promote our business members through a variety of efforts, including marketing initiatives, special events, networking opportunities, and sponsorship programs. WPBCC activities include technical assistance to businesses, networking events, member newsletter, marketing programs, promotional materials, community relations, and business attraction and retention. WPBCC is the Sole Service Provider for the WPB Special Service Area (SSA) #33, which funds numerous programs and services in the commercial districts of Wicker Park and Bucktown.
JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:
The Rat Birth Control Distribution Contractor (RBCDC) will help WPBCC facilitate this SSA#33 community-driven initiative focused on humane and effective solutions for controlling the rat population in Wicker Park and Bucktown neighborhoods. This position will work outdoors through all seasons of the year and will be best filled by a reliable, detail oriented, and self-motivated individual. Utilizing a scientifically-backed birth control product, "Evolve," to help manage and reduce rat populations, the RBCDC will be responsible for distributing the product in designated alleyways of Wicker Park and Bucktown on a weekly basis and ensuring that bait boxes are in good condition, tracking any that are damaged or missing, and reporting back.
SUPERVISION:
Works under the supervision of WPBCC’s SSA Program Manager
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The core duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
-Distribute Evolve rat birth control product to designated alleyways once a week
-Monitor bait boxes for damage or missing items and report any issues
-Ensure that all distribution is done in a timely and thorough manner, following safety and community guidelines
-Track progress and provide weekly reports on activities completed
QUALIFICATIONS
-Strong attention to detail and ability to track and report information accurately
-Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
-Comfortable working outdoors in an urban environment
-Good communication skills and reliable access to a phone or email for reporting purposes
-Previous experience in fieldwork or environmental/urban services is a plus but not required
-Knowledge of the Wicker Park and Bucktown neighborhoods is a plus
COMPENSATION & HOURS
-Competitive pay at $20 per hour
-Flexible work schedule with up to 5 hours per week
