Nikki Kelsay

Nikki Kelsay is a Chicago visual artist located in Wicker Park whose portraits and narrative oil paintings draw upon their queer identity, Catholic upbringing and interest in queer ecology. They explore the impact of patriarchy and Christianity on their personal life and modern Western society through expressions of resistance, fear, love, and solitude. Their paintings are both deeply personal yet unavoidably confrontational; forcing the audience to challenge what they know about themselves and their environment through a mutually introspective lens. Kelsay graduated from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign in 2020 with a bachelor's degree in Art Education and a minor in Art History. Kelsay’s work has been shown in a number of publications and group shows, including exhibitions in Chicago, San Diego, and London.
