JC Talbott-Shere
JC Talbott-Shere is an artist and sculptor currently practicing in the Chicago area. Their body of work is built on modern object/material theory, highlighting the connection between the human and non-human to elevate the material and its history to the same level as the object itself. It includes themes of both material and object appreciation and environmental embodiment, drawing from outsider/folk art influences.
JC’s practice involves a close relationship with found objects, something he has labeled the collection; a constant lookout and subsequent harboring of materials he finds interesting without an intention of how they will be used. Most of these materials are found around the city of Chicago and heavily influence his work.
